Welcome back!

Meeting my grade 4 students has been the highlight of my week! I have been looking forward to the first day of this school year and I'm so glad it's finally come and gone. I think it's safe to say that the students were equally excited, nervous and eager for this week. I even had many students request for homework (and cheered when I finally assigned a colouring activity yesterday)!

We spent this week unpacking our supplies, labeling them by subject and learning how to put together a binder with dividers - those tabs are tricky business! We learned a little bit more about each other by playing our People Bingo game. It was fun trying to fill our Bingo sheets with different signatures.

The kids also had their first Spelling pre-test on some sight words they may remember from when they were in grades 1, 2, and 3. They were nervous about taking the test, but they did just fine :)

I brought in a few special items for our Religion class today. Some the students volunteered to bring the items up to our Prayer Table while we prayed together and learned a little bit about who Jesus Christ is. It was very cute to watch them and I wish I was able to take a picture of it to capture such an endearing moment.

We started our Light Unit in Science by watching a classic Bill Nye the Science Guy video on Light and Colour. Gotta love Mr. Nye! To this day, I am still learning from him! #Bill!Bill!Bill!Bill! The kids started making their title page for the unit, and it was assigned for homework.

I also assigned them their Back to School Journal for homework this weekend just to get their hearts feeling and their minds thinking about Grade 4. I went over the first 8 pages with them and reminded them to only do what they can in those pages. They seem pretty daunting but are intended to be a fun activity to fill out about themselves in order for me to get to know more about them as unique individuals.💛
